Modern Vs Village Life

Today's generation enjoys the fruits of science and
Technology, they enjoy the modern life, and they have better standard of living because of increase in per capita income. Today there are two incomes in the family- of fathers and mothers too. There is more education, more material comfort like TV, internet, i-pods, mobile phones and speedy means of transportation.
The modern life is dwelling in cities. William cooper the great English poet says, "God made the country and man made the town". Modern life in cities is quite different from the one in village. Village life is slow moving and more agriculturally based while city is the centre for trade, commerce, industry and education. Modern life is full of activity and there is a lot of movement and change going on. Modern life is always on the go, there are many offers for pleasures, opportunities for jobs, if you have a good job you can live well. You can avail the best dwelling, food, clothing, entertainment and education. Modern life is liked by all and it attracts multitude of people to like to live in cities.
I is popular to contrast the virtues of village life with the hazards of big city living. In a small village, one allegbly is less likely to be shot, killed in traffic or asphyxiated by auto fumes. On close examination, however, the perceived advantages of villages begin to seem less certain. The little community that looks so calm and desirable may have almost all the drawbacks of a big city, plus few disadvantages of its own.
Although the city is often critised for its crime rate, there is also a certain security in living in a city. If a child gets into trouble, there is often some source of help nearby, such as a police station or a public information desk.
It is not guaranteed, for example, that the crime will be lower, on a case person basis, in a little town than in a big city, Crime waves occur in small communities, just as major cities. One can be murdered as easily in a town of 2000 as in a city of 2 million.
Also villages have their own particular drawbacks. One is isolation. Something you need desperately such as health care may not be available in village. Many other good services are also relatively rare in villages.
Assistance is not readily available in the country where one is relatively isolated and must rely on ones own resources when emergencies arise. Medical care is more easily available in modern life. Village may be many kilometers away from the nearest hospital or clinic. But in a city the nearest hospital or clinic is just a few seconds away. Thus modern life is clearly preferable in such cases.
Urban dangers such as traffic are often emphasized but it is seldom pointed out that rural areas have their particular dangers too. A child playing beside a lake may fall in and drown. Wild animals present a certain threat as well. It is a mistake to think that village life is necessarily safer than modern life merely because the dangers in village life are more natural. A threat is a threat wherever it may occur.
A child in the village may grow with an appreciation of birds, flowers and trees but miss priceless cultural opportunities available in cities. Modern life may have its ugly aspects, but on the whole its advantages outweigh them.Seen from different perspectives, modern life may seem preferable to life in a little village because of the many assets of large cities, from major medical centers to museums and speciality stores may out weigh the liabilities such as urban noise and dirty air. The edge doesn't always belong to small communities. In many cases they may look attractive at the first glance but actually have much less to offer than the ugly metropolis.
