Theatre in Kalidasa's Art

The only structures that can be identified as theaters are caves cut in rock in central and eastern India. In eastern India there are open pavilions used for dance and drama attached to temples. The temple theaters of Kerala fit the prescriptions of Bharata’s Natyasastra in a few dimensions but all the specimens have perished. Medium rectangular playhouse, 96*48 is taken as norm which could accommodate more than 200 spectators on mat-covered floor with benches on the sides. It was divided into equal halves. Roof was supported by wooden pillars.  Four pillars associated with each class stand away from walls to designate seating are of classes or to represent unite of man in site plan indicating extending knowledge of Vedas to the sudras The domain of the performers was subdivided. It is agreed that there was a backstage from where performers could get ready, wait for their entrance or give the offstage voices. There may be a wall between backstage and stage with door...

Shikhhaaaa !!! Ek post to banti hai :)

Image
She would snatch the spoon out of the ice-cream cup and say “ek to banta hai” and that’s how “ek to banta hai” has become her tag line! She requested me to write a post on her and I just have been delaying it since many days. She is very punctual, like without fail she would wake up early and wake me up. We would be the only people walking so early in the morning and then those lazy mornings where we sit for hours sipping our beverages discussing anything under the sun, I would blabber out my thoughts to her, patiently listening to the history tales she would tell. We both share interest and she would read and narrate it to me. I like to hear her speak about her day, her feelings and her philosophies. She would go to a roomie and ask her to explain some chapters… As soon as the roomie would start, shikha would be interrupting: “haa who to aata hai” “age bata” or she wud start explaining the stuff herself: D or she would just sit with me in the cafeteria...

Blade Runner

Identification between director and Deckard is established by showing the blade runner sitting in a darkened room observing photographs of the replicants who are human replicas. He calls for close ups and tracks the shots using voight-kampff machine to gaze at the human beings whose humanness is under suspicion. Attention of camera is lethal to human subject. Camera is capable of confirming the humanity. Blade runner shows its director things along the barrel of his gun thus equating camera with death dealing piece. Gun is used to retire all replicants where as it is used to initiate rachel. Gun can be used to acknowledge or deny humanity. Flourishing of any given person’s humanity requires acknowledgement by others. The way director uses camera’s gaze transform’s subjects into what replicants are thought to be or he can preserve their subjectivity. Any failure of acknowledgement in a film is a director’s responsibility. Failure can’t be predicted apart from analyzing the f...

Shamiana Breaks the records!!

Shamiana anniversary celebrations couldn't get a better start. Maddy performed 4 melodious songs and the mood was set, the temperature had risen. The shamiana anniversary screening began with a very tasty starter …A two and a half minute film “Amdavad Appetite” by Madhvi Bhatt ensured that everybody was salivating. It took us on a drive around the city of Ahmedabad and showing tempting amdavad food. The short film “chair” got everybody thinking, everybody could have different interpretations of the short film. They used the prop chair to show that loved ones have a permanent place in our heart. As always the interaction with the movie makers was very entertaining, with cyrus sir’s humorous inputs. He makes sure he gives enough appreciation and motivation to all those who deserve and his funny comments makes sure the audience is glued! The show stopper of the evening was certainly the last movie that was screened: Henry by Canadian Yan England. It was super sad ...

Let go Everything

Right now you’re like Santa Claus. You have a big bag that you carry around with you every day of your life. But this bag is not full of presents; it’s packed with worries, concerns, past memories,  regrets  – all sorts of things that keep pulling you back. All of these things don’t allow you to be the best that you can be. Letting go of everything is actually what you need to do in order to succeed . “ So how do I let go? ”, you might ask. Here are 7 ways of letting go and achieving immediate success 1 .  Letting Go of Memories Many people feel that memories are the most important thing they have. They place memories in a treasure chest and cherish them or regret them, depending on the memory, whenever they get a chance to. And as the years go by, this treasure chest is getting heavier and heavier. And it’s hard to carry it around – all the mistakes of the past, all the beautiful moments you’ve enjoyed. And although you might feel like all of the...

Design Brief for Bird Identifier

Need of Design Google search allows us to search for bird information but it works best when we have the name of the birds, through vague description of the bird, we cannot search for the bird we saw for a few seconds. To make bird finding an interesting process and to sustain the user interest, I want to build an interactive bird identifier. A proper design is required to direct the users towards accurate results and to prevent errors Suggested Design Options The design should be simple and easy to use by people of all age groups. Instead of asking the users to provide description, we should help them identify the birds by asking a set of questions. The questions must be well formulated so that they are easy to answer and the bird is easily identified by a few questions. Constraints Searching birds by existing image is tough, it wouldn't yield accurate results because mostly image search algorithms are based on the Meta tags or by the pixels. The image of the...

Zabbar Dus Break Up Ideas

So many movies and shows out there today have shown us the worst ways to break up with some. And of course we remember a lot of them and may have actually used them! It's amazing how creative someone can suddenly be when they're trying to break up with someone. Hey, maybe the person was just a little bit nervous or really didn't know what to say to break it off. How many times have I been given an awful break-up line before? I know you all have had them too - or given them! We dug through our brains and did a little research and complied ZABBAR DUS  worst and funniest ways to break-up with someone Just remember never to use them on someone and that neither we nor radio DAIICT can be held responsible! I hope you never get slapped in the face for using any of these... Stay TUned!! 1. For the guys... Yar, woh din yaad hai jab maine tujhe date ke liye puchha ? mein tere pichhe khadi thi us ladki se baat kar raha tha yar :P :D  Aur kuchh kehne ki jarurat nahi hai !...

Designer's Mandate

Image
Googling the Google!  Google was founded in 1988 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Google is the beating heart of the digital age. The grandeur and geekiness of the kingdom of bits become manifest at Google   Google is described as perfect search engine which understands what user means and gives back exactly what user needs. Google tries to make it as easy as possible for user to fine the information needed and get things needed to be done. Need of Interaction Design   Interaction design ensures that the interaction between humans and search engine is meaningful. We need to understand the human engagement and communication and use that knowledge to design the interface. Search has to be made smarter and faster. Google should understand that when we type “jaguar” we are looking for car and not photos of animal. It should show information that is valuable to us. It means that the products should work intuitively so that people can spend ti...

The Journey of Google Home Page

Image
Google’s original home page had a simple design, since its founders were not experienced in HTML. Over the years, the google home page was updated and improved. The extra white space was later on cropped out without removing any elements. In the new version, a black bar was added. It was a minimalist interface update, the interface was made brighter and updated over the months of the year 2011. The word “Web” on the black bar was replaced with “Search”. Page changed a little bit over the months . Red line over the options in the black bar was removed. Sign button changed. The copyrighted logo was removed. The sign-in button was moved to the left. This is the current high resolution version. It is simple and clear, the page thus loads instantly. While designing a new tweak to the look of the homepage, great care has to be taken to ultimately serve the audience so interaction design plays a major role. Google redesigne...
