Jyoti Sangh
The name: Jyoti Sangh itself acts as a signifier. “Jyoti” means lamp,
“Sangh” means the group of like-minded people. Jyoti Sangh tries to spread
light in the homes of poor. The logo also acts as a signifier. The flames in the dark background
signifies how they are trying to help women shine, come out of the four walls
of their homes and create an identity. The logo justifies how they try to
provide opportunities to women for development, attaining self-confidence,
become self-reliant and contribute better in nation’s development. The photographs and the posters acted as signifier to highlight social evils and
create awareness of women rights and fighting social ills and social causes. The
sepia effect reflected how their journey is a long one and how they facilitate
socially backward women. Especially the photograph portraying gandhiji. Here gandhiji worked as a signifier of
freedom. The institute tries to free women and provide them empowerment. The sewing machines used instead of table legs were perfect
signifiers of jyoti sangh’s work for woman emancipation and it reflected the
simple techniques used. The entities placed on the sewing machine showed how
they generated revenue and tried to help women sustain themselves in the
competitive world.
